Controls the operation of chemical production plant.
Job Description
- Controlling equipment performing continuous and batch processes to process chemicals and natural gas, manufacture refined petroleum products, and blend petroleum base stocks to produce commercial fuels, lubricating oils and asphalt
- Controlling the preparation, measuring and feeding of raw material and processing agents such as catalysts and filtering media into plant
- Patrolling and inspecting equipment to ensure proper operation and setting operating controls on equipment
- Analysing samples and readings and recording test data
- Controlling records of production, quantities transferred and details of blending and pumping operations
- Checking equipment for malfunctions and arranging maintenance
- Operating power generation plant controls to produce required load
- Monitoring operation of power generation plant and interpreting instrument readings
- Authorising procedures to isolate high-voltage and low-voltage electrical apparatus and plant
- Writing reports and maintaining records on equipment performance, instrument readings and switching operations
- Carrying out routine operating tests

Skill Assessment
Application Steps
- Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA): Applicants who have completed 2 years of full-time study in Australia and whose nominated occupation is on the medium- and long-term immigration list can apply for a 1.5-year 485 visa after passing the PSA assessment;
- Job Ready Employment Skills Assessment: Applicants can submit JRP applications within the three-year validity period of the PSA; Required: A valid PSA related to the nominated occupation, and a qualified employer to provide EVR and SPR forms. Pays lips & SPR after 6 months; After the TRA certification meets 912 hours (average 38 hours of full-time work per week), the applicant will be notified that the second step can be taken;
- Job Ready Workplace Assessment (JRWA): After the applicant completes 912 hours of paid work within 6 months, the assessor will conduct an assessment at the applicant's workplace to ensure that the applicant has the relevant skills and can perform the relevant work;
- Job Ready Final Assessment (JRFA): After passing the final assessment, the applicant can submit a technical assessment application.
Skills Assessment Requirements
Academic requirements
- 1. Graduates who have completed relevant studies in Australia can complete a career assessment through TRA's Job Ready Program;
- 2. People with recognized overseas professional qualifications and experience in skilled trades can submit applications through TRA-approved Australian registered training organizations to complete occupational assessments. The assessment results can be used to apply for a 482 visa or a TSS temporary work visa, and they can work for at least three years.

1. If the applicant's occupation is on the Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP) list and the applicant's passport is in the corresponding country on the OSAP list, then they can only apply for an OSAP occupation assessment;
2. Applicants whose occupations are: Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic, Electrician (General), Electrician (Special Class), Plumber (General), can only apply for OSAP category regardless of their nationality;
3. To apply for a 485 graduate work visa, you need to go through the JRP category.
4. TRA-MSA application requirements
- Your occupation is on the MLTSSL or STSOL occupation list for skilled migration and requires a TRA assessment;
- You have a certificate equivalent to the Australian qualification or training qualification for the nominated occupation (AQF for short, the qualification required for TRA occupations is generally Certificatelll, CertificateI or Diploma), or have completed an apprenticeship in Australia for the nominated occupation;
