TAFE Queensland
Recently, the TAFE Queensland Gold Coast Coomera campus has seen the presence of many actors, including Hugo Weaving, Ryan Kwanten, and Jillian Nguyen. Under the direction of Ivan Sen, the Bunya production company's producers, photographers, sound engineers, hairstylists, makeup artists, costume designers, and prop set designers have been busy filming on campus. The entire campus is filled with the flavor of the film, full of vitality!

With the strong support of the Queensland government, a complete film production team is currently filming the Australian romantic sci-fi blockbuster 'Loveland' on-site at TAFE Queensland. Here, the team will combine virtual and real-life construction methods to create a hyper-modern urban scene modeled after a Chinese megacity. Other filming locations include Hong Kong, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
During the three-week shoot, more than 60 TAFE Queensland students will assist with on-site filming and production, and some students will also serve as extras in several scenes.
TAFE Queensland Screen and Media Diploma student Kiana Johnson, who has only been studying for 7 weeks, also participated in assisting with the film shoot.
The Screen and Media Diploma (Film and Television) course includes knowledge and skills in various aspects such as film and television scripts, directing, photography, storyboarding, lighting, editing, production, and publishing.
Kiana said that participating in the filming of Loveland not only allowed her to see the behind-the-scenes production process but also to sit next to Director Ivan Sen and watch the actors' wonderful performances from the camera, an experience that felt like a dream come true!
Screen and Media Diploma (Film and Television) Diploma of Screen and Media (Film and TV) Course Code: CUA5101 CRICOS Code: 091827C Entry Requirements: Completion of Year 12 Language Requirements: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no less than 5 in each component) Course Duration: 1 year Campus (Entry Time): Gold Coast Coomera (S1) Brisbane Mt Gravatt (S1, S2)
Although Kiana knew that the school would provide industry-standard software, cameras, and recording equipment, green screen studios, electrical control rooms, computer labs, etc., for her and her classmates to practice with, she did not expect to participate in the production of a real film, see these devices operate efficiently, or meet these world-renowned filmmakers and work with them at school!
Kiana said that the course far exceeded her expectations, and this experience is also inspiring her to enter the industry, create her own works, and even one day become the person sitting in the director's chair!
