DescriptionsCertificate Qualification

This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of an engineering tradesperson – mechanical within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. The qualification has been specifically developed for apprentices in the above trade.

This qualification must be undertaken through a Training Contract or through formal trade recognition assessment processes.

The skills associated with this qualification are intended to apply to a wide range of mechanical trade work, including undertaking fitting, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, maintenance and service of mechanical equipment, machinery and the use of machine tools.

This qualification is designed to provide an industry recognised skills profile related to trade work as an Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical.

Assessment of some units of competency must, where indicated, include evidence of the candidate’s performance in a functioning workplace where there is a sufficient range of appropriate tasks and materials to cover the scope of application of those units. All outcomes must reflect the standard of performance inherent in the job.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, in some jurisdictions units in this qualification may relate to licensing or regulatory requirements. Local regulations should be checked.

  • Australia's 100-point identity checklist is used to verify a person's identity and prevent identity theft or fraud. Applicants are required to provide different types of identity documents with a total score of 100 points or more, with each type of document having a specific point value.
  • To be eligible for RPL assessment, you need to upload a verified resume (in PDF format) including your complete work experience since undergraduate studies, in chronological order, with the most recent experience first. Your resume may include internship experience, and should not exceed three A4 pages
  • The Australian USI registration number is a unique registration number provided by the Australian government to identify the personal learning records of each Australian learner. This registration number is mainly used by students to participate in various types of education and training in Australia, such as studying in TAFE, university, vocational training, etc. By registering a USI number, learners' personal information, learning records and achievements can be shared.
  • Recommendation letters are used to highlight and acknowledge personal abilities and are often used when applying for a job, scholarship or university admission. The writer is usually an employer, supervisor, manager or professor. Australian employers use recommendation letters to assess candidates, especially those with limited experience.
  • "Visa copy" is a copy of your visa, including personal information, visa type, number, issue date, and expiration date, proving legal entry. "Arrival date in Australia" is the planned arrival date, which helps officials understand travel plans and ensure visa validity. Ensuring that the information is accurate and consistent with the itinerary is an important step in entering Australia.
  • 5 - 10 videos (30s - 1.5mins long each) are required. Reasons for video description include: verifying authenticity, demonstrating skills, supplementing written materials, demonstrating communication skills, and providing work environment context. In general, video description can make the RPL review process more transparent and intuitive, helping reviewers to evaluate your abilities and experience more comprehensively and accurately, thereby increasing the success rate of RPL applications. The full face must be shown in all videos.
  • You are required to submit 20-25 photos, which can fully and truly show the applicant's work experience and skills, help the evaluators make accurate judgments, and increase the possibility of the application being approved. All photos must show the full face.
  • In Australia, the White Card is a construction safety training certificate and is required to enter a construction site. It is a one-time health and safety course for construction industry professionals.
