As part of the University of Sydney’s 2032 strategy and our commitment to delivering educational opportunities that are transformational, building on feedback from industry, students, and graduates, we are pleased to announce another new bachelor’s degree will be available for students commencing their studies from Semester 1, 2025 – the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation (Taronga)* CRICOS code: 116444H.
Designed for students who have a passion for animals and dream of making an impact in the conservation sector, this unique degree provides highly sought-after skills and interactive, practical experiences in the field and onsite at Taronga Zoo. Through studying the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation (Taronga) CRICOS code: 116444H, students will develop their expertise in wildlife conservation and be well prepared for a range of wildlife and conservation-related careers in the future.
With the introduction of the new degree, we will no longer be processing applications for the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation) CRICOS code: 093744A. We will be advising offer holders for the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation) that they can continue with their plans to study this degree with us in 2025, but please be aware they will not be able to defer their offers to commence in a later intake. However, you will be pleased to note that we will also provide existing offer holders with the option to have their offer transferred for admission into the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation (Taronga) CRICOS Code: 116444H if this is their preference. This will be managed by us directly to the offer holders so there is no specific action for you, but we appreciate your assistance in supporting the messaging and guiding students to make their decision.
Any applicants who have not yet had their application assessed will be offered the option to be considered for admission to the new bachelor’s degree or to withdraw their application and receive an application fee refund if that is their preference.
We will continue to teach out the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation) CRICOS code: 093744A for any currently enrolled students, or those noted with existing offers to commence in 2025 who elect to stay in the existing degree structure.
Whilst we believe that many students will choose to study the new bachelor’s degree available for 2025 given the advantages of the new degree, we are committed to ensuring offer holders have the choice to commence in the degree of their preference (and where they are eligible for admission). We ask that you advise students to help them select the best choice based on their personal circumstances and professional and academic goals.
